Supporting the development of an active Angel Investor community on the Sunshine Coast
Facilitating connections between local investors and entrepreneurs
Providing a forum for entrepreneurs to present opportunities to local investors and for people interested in the Sunshine Coast start up scene to come together.
Conducting regular monthly pitch meetings and other events in support of these goals.
Longer term, we intend to support member education and the sharing of experience between members and by members with local start-ups.
We do not promote or manage investments, nor does Sunshine Coast Angels Inc invest on its own behalf. We simply provide a forum for entrepreneurs to present their proposals to local investors. Any decision to invest is up to individual investor.

Leadership
Steve Barnes
Steve is an experienced executive, former Global COO of ASX 200 fintech IRESS and an Angel Investor. He has nearly 30 years corporate and consulting experience plus a prior career in journalism and corporate communication. He has experience in strategy, business transformation, growth and M&A. His corporate and consulting career has focused on financial services and technology but has included experience across a range of industries.
Steve is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, has an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management and, from his previous career, a degree in Journalism.
He took on the role of President of SunCoast Angels in April 2023.
Steve is also a member of Melbourne Angels and Brisbane Angels.
Robert Easton
Treasury
Robert is a CFO with deep experience supporting high growth businesses and business turnarounds in the UK & Australia through to Private Equity exits. He is a CPA & CIMA accountant.
More recently Robert has developed a CFO practice to support early stage business through growth of and investment in technology business.
A member of local angel groups and mentoring programs, he is well versed in the challenges of bringing investment, revenue growth and scale to high potential ventures.
Splitting his time between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, Robert is keen to support the expansion of local innovation & entrepreneurship.

Gilad Bakas
Gilad is an Ethical Hacker, entrepreneur, angel investor and mentor with significant financial and technological successes behind him.
Gilad has over 25 years of experience in the technology sector as an employee, contractor, founder, board member and advisor.
Since 2014, Gilad has been passionate about helping start-up companies in Australia and Israel grow and succeed.
Gilad joined SunCoast Angels in 2019 and became its Secretary in 2023.
Mike Greeff
Founder
Michael Greeff is a qualified Chartered Accountant, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an affiliate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
Mike Founded SunCoast Angels in early 2017 and the Sunshine Coast Mentoring & Investment group in 2014.
He’s an active Angel Investor in Brisbane Angels since February 2014.
Mike opened The Hive Business Space in March 2017 and successfully exited in April 2018.
Prior to emigrating to Australia in 2009, Mike was a founding Shareholder and Director of The Reclamation Group Pty Ltd, South Africa’s largest international recycling company.
Mike has served on a number of Boards during his career and maintains a number of philanthropic pursuits.
